Proposed walking bridge would connect Lambert’s Point and West Ghent neighborhoods in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va., (WAVY) — Walkers may eventually have a safer path through Norfolk neighborhoods with a proposed foot bridge.

The Elizabeth River Trail Foundation has announced a new design for the bridge and would like the public’s input on it. The bridge would cross the Norfolk Southern rail lines at Jeff Robertson Park. It would connect the Lambert’s Point and West Ghent neighborhoods and provide a safer path through the area.

Currently, walkers need to go through a busy roadway there that is narrow, dark and close to the road. It is often noisy and uninviting, especially for families with children, according to Kindra Greene, executive director of the Elizabeth River Trail Foundation…
