VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — From the rails to the trails, all systems that make Hampton Roads move could slow down as the heat index will reach the upper 90s to more than 100 degrees in some areas.
According to a news release, when the ambient temperature reaches 95 degrees and train track readings reach 128 degrees, Amtrak slows travel to keep passengers safe. If you have a ticket to ride, Amtrak said it will send notifications if the heat delays arrivals.
