Virginia Beach firefighters use cooling buses, staffing changes to stay safe in summer heat

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — As summer temperatures rise, Virginia Beach firefighters are relying on additional staffing, specialized equipment and cooling resources to stay safe while responding to emergencies.

Assistant Chief Michael Carter said the department faces increased demands during the summer months, especially on weekends and during special events.
