USS Mitscher to return to Naval Station Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Mitscher will return to Naval Station Norfolk on June 16, according to a press release.

USS Mitscher deploys as part of Gerald R. Ford Strike Group

On July 25, 2025, the warship left Naval Station Norfolk for a regularly scheduled deployment to the U.S. European Command area of responsibility. The warship conducted its pre-deployment certification as part of the Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group.

Commissioned in 1994, USS Mitscher has offensive and defensive capabilities that it uses to engage in anti-air, anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, according to the Navy.
