VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — As Virginia leaders move closer to creating a legal recreational cannabis market, one Virginia Beach business owner says the proposal could provide a major boost for entrepreneurs while helping establish a new industry across the Commonwealth.
Earlier this week, Gov. Abigail Spanberger joined Sen. Lashrecse Aird and Del. Paul Krizek to announce a compromise framework that would allow recreational cannabis sales to begin July 1, 2027. The proposal would create a regulated retail marketplace, authorize up to 350 retail licenses statewide and establish new opportunities for small businesses seeking to enter the cannabis industry.
