Great white shark encounter stuns Virginia Beach fishing crew

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A sport fishing crew off the coast of Virginia Beach recently encountered a great white shark, estimated to be 14 to 15 feet long, near a windmill base. The massive shark circled the boat multiple times, leaving the crew in shock and amazement.

The unusual encounter took place during what the crew described as a typical sea bass fishing trip aboard the Wreck Dawg, which operates out of Fisherman’s Wharf Marina in Virginia Beach. Kenny Davis, first mate on board the Wreck Dawg, said the day turned special when he spotted the shark approaching from behind a turbine.

“That day was a special day. And when we were sitting there on that windmill base, I seen the shark come from behind the blind side of the turbine,” Davis said, describing the moment of the sighting…
