Norfolk I-64 west on-ramp reopens after drainage upgrade

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The on-ramp to Interstate 64 west in Norfolk has reopened, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced in a social media post Thursday afternoon. The reopening follows critical improvements completed by HRBT Expansion crews.

The work was essential to safely install new triple 36-inch culverts, which are part of an upgraded drainage system along Granby Street. This process required excavating a 20-foot-wide, 7-foot-deep section of the existing ramp.

A detour was put in place for motorists during the construction period.
