Son accused of shooting, killing his dad on Father’s Day in Virginia

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A 25-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of his father Sunday evening on West Kendall Circle appeared before a General District Court judge by video Tuesday, facing voluntary manslaughter and weapons charges.

The charges against Dylan Sherwood, 25, stem from a shooting on Father’s Day, June 21, in the 2100 block of West Kendall Circle around 8:15 p.m.

When officers arrived, they located a man who had been shot. The victim, identified as Daryl Sherwood, 55, was taken to a local hospital and later died.

The VBPD Homicide Squad arrested Dylan Sherwood for the offense. He was charged with voluntary manslaughter and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
