HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — With the temperatures getting as hot as they’re expected to get later this week and on Independence Day, people are going to want to spend more time around the water to cool off.
But the hotter it gets, the more people that Eliza Ross, an aquatic specialist for the YMCA of South Hampton Roads, is looking after. But last year, she learned it also means she must look after herself.
“Last summer, I do remember, I got really hot,” Ross said, “and I did have to get off the stand for a minute just to take a break. I think I was actually getting rotated, but I went inside for a minute and just drank water, and I felt better after like 15 minutes.”…
