VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A longtime local business owner and hardware veteran has passed away.

Dawson Taylor, owner of Taylor’s Do it Center, died Saturday at age 103, according to a Facebook post.

Taylor’s father, Robert joined the company in 1929 after it was started by James Jordan, Edward Hardy, Willard Ashburn and Audie Fisher in 1927. Deciding to work at the hardware business alongside his dad, Taylor subsequently became a co-owner in 1965 during the company’s first expansion…
