PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The recreational water advisory for Hull Creek resulting from an estimated 3 million gallons of sewage gushing into the streets of Portsmouth has been lifted as of Monday, the Portsmouth Health Department announced.
As the advisory is lifted, the Virginia Department of Health reports no evidence of remaining impact on drinking water.
The sewage incident occurred Aug. 4 when a 30-inch sewer force main break on Douglas Avenue near Rolfe Terrace resulted in about 3.15 million gallons of sewage overflowing into the streets of Portsmouth.
