Garden of Tomorrow nears grand opening at Norfolk Botanical Garden

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — There aren’t many tomorrows left before Norfolk Botanical Garden’s $50 million Garden of Tomorrow opens to the public.

Tuesday, area media were invited for a sneak-peek to see just how its new garden has blossomed.

“In the Perry Conservatory, there is an arid house which [has] dry climate conditions, like the desert plants,” said Kelly Welsh, chief marketing officer with Norfolk Botanical Garden. “And then there’s cactus in there. There’s succulents, there are other plants, and then you go into the tropical house, and that is more like a rainforest, kind of climate condition of the tropics. And so you’ll see banana tree, you’ll see philodendron, and you’ll see all these different plants that you may have never seen in your whole life.”…
