Two Adults Displaced After Massive Fire in Virginia Beach House Friday
A fire tore through a home in Virginia Beach’s Kempsville area in the early morning hours of September 19, 2026, and what started with heavy smoke pouring from a single-story structure quickly turned into a rescue operation.
Virginia Beach Fire Department (VBFD) crews were dispatched at approximately 1:40 a.m. to the 1700 block of Garden Drive. They arrived five minutes later and found the home already thick with smoke. Firefighters had water on the fire by 1:47 a.m. and brought it under control by 1:57 a.m.
But those ten minutes made all the difference for one man inside.

Crews pulled a man from the burning home. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition…
