PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Elizabeth City State University (ECSU), just south of Hampton Roads, is reaching new heights with its rankings in the 2027 edition of U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges. ECSU, a public institution founded in 1891, is ranked No. 7 in Regional Colleges South and ranked No. 1 in Best Colleges for Veterans. The university issued a news release on Sept. 22 touting the rise in the rankings.
The school’s in-state tuition is affordable, with tuition and fees totaling around $7,660. Virginia students can receive in‑state tuition at Elizabeth City State University if they meet Virginia’s legal definition of domicile or qualify under one of the state’s statutory exceptions, making this one of the most affordable options for nearby students if applicable.
Out of 376 schools ranked within the 2027 National University category, three schools in Hampton Roads made the list: William & Mary,Old Dominion University, and Regent University.…
