CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Crews in Chesapeake responded to a fire at a trash transfer facility Friday morning.
Firefighters were called to Meeks Disposal around 11:30 a.m. after it was reported that a large pile of trash was burning inside the facility. Crews arrived on scene within minutes and deployed multiple hose lines to extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading.
All personnel working at the facility were safely accounted for, officials say. No firefighters were injured.
