Suspect arrested in connection with December homicide at Norfolk motel

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Norfolk Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide that occurred in early December.

Police say that 35-year-old Taikisha C. Swift was taken into custody on Jan. 25 and charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm.

According to officials, on Dec. 9 at around 5:20 a.m., officers were notified of a possible gunshot victim at the Econo Lodge, located at 865 N. Military Highway. Officers arrived to the scene to find 52-year-old Charles F. Moore suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Moore was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

Swift is being held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond, police say.
