DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — according to a Davidson County Sheriff’s Office news release.
In Oct. 2022, Davidson County detectives began investigating the report of past sexual abuse on a juvenile after a referral from the Winston-Salem Police Department.
Due to alleged sexual abuse happening in both jurisdictions, the juvenile attended a forensic interview at the Dragonfly House Children’s Advocacy Center located in Mocksville, North Carolina.
The juvenile disclosed sexual abuse by a family friend that happened in Thomasville.
As a result of the investigation, detectives with the DCSO went to Portsmouth, Virginia, and Raymundo Penaloza Hernandez, 29, of Portsmouth, was arrested for three counts of indecent liberties with a minor on Jan. 10.
Hernandez was then extradited to North Carolina on Jan. 25.
Hernandez was issued a $200,000 secured bond for three counts of indecent liberties with a minor and three counts of sexual battery.
Hernandez was issued a Feb. 8, court date for the Davidson County charges and a Feb. 15 court date for the Forsyth County charges.
