Police: 1 hurt in late night shooting

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth police are investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital.

Saturday around 12:37 a.m., officers responded to the 2900 block of Berkley Avenue for a shots fired call. A short time later, officers were called to a local hospital for a walk-in gunshot victim.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located the victim who was being being treated for a gunshot wound. The man is expected to be OK, police said.

Police have not released any suspect information at this time.
