Granby Street residential fire displaces two people, two dogs

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Norfolk Fire and Rescue responded to a fire on Granby Street Friday morning.

According to officials, the call came in at approximately 7:43 a.m. for a fire in the 5800 block of Granby Street.

Crews arrived to the scene and found smoke and flames coming from an attached garage. After an initial interior attack, the fire spread to the home, hindering an interior attack.

A WAVY employee said the fire caused traffic delays on Granby Street, also stating she could smell the smoke while driving over the Granby Street Bridge.

Two northbound lanes on Granby Street were closed as fire crews worked to clear the incident.

The fire was considered controlled by 9:18 a.m. and no injuries were reported.

Two people and two dogs were displaced by the fire.
