9 people and 3 pets displaced in Chesapeake house fire

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – The Chesapeake Fire Department is investigating a house fire Tuesday morning that displaced nine people.

According to officials, crews were notified of a fire in the 2500 block of Border Road at 8:33 a.m. This is in the South Norfolk section of the city.

Crews arrived to the scene and found heavy smoke coming from the home.

One WAVY 10 viewer was able to capture video of the fire before firefighters arrived, showing heavy smoke spilling out from the house.

The fire was located in the kitchen and was marked under control by 9:11 a.m.

Three adults, six children and three pets were displaced by the fire. Red Cross has been called to assist with lodging arrangements.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
