Virginia State Police responded to a call of a single-vehicle crash on I-264 around 7:17 p.m.
The vehicle, a grey 2019 Toyota 4Runner, was reported exiting eastbound off I-64 to I-264 westbound. The victim was identified as Austin Hale, 30, of Virginia Beach.
According to officers, a friend of Hale’s called dispatchers concerned for his safety. Norfolk fire and rescue were then sent out, where they found Hale’s car in the wood line, laying on its side against a tree.
The ramp heading west has been blocked off and all traffic has been rerouted until they can clear the lanes, according to VSP.
