Jorden pistol-whipped and fatally shot 29-year-old Jonathan Bassett on Nov. 14, 2020, inside the home of Jorden’s girlfriend. The girlfriend’s three children were inside the apartment during the shooting. On Dec. 8, 2020, Jorden was taken into custody and confessed he shot Bassett because he was under the impression Bassett was having relations with his then-pregnant girlfriend.

In addition, Jorden also had another seven years and three months added to his sentence for violating his probation for a 2014 shooting incident, revoking the suspended sentence in that case.
