VBPD: Officers fire at suspect after shots fired call near VB Antique Mall

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Officers with the Virginia Beach Police Department discharged their weapons at a suspect after an early morning shots fired call in front of the Bonney Trace Apartments.

According to officials, the incident occurred just before 4 a.m. when officers heard shots coming from the dead end of Trace Court.

Officers arrived to the scene and were confronted by an armed individual, police said. Shortly afterwards, officers discharged their weapons at the suspect.

Police have Bonney Road, between South Kentucky Avenue and Happy Street, blocked off during their investigation.

Photos from the scene show a heavy police presence right across from the Virginia Beach Antique Mall.

No injuries were reported during the incident and the suspect is in custody.

The incident remains under investigation.
