What was flying through the sky in Hampton Roads?

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – It’s a bird, it’s a plane — it’s a SpaceX launch!

People from all across our region got to see the launch of SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn all the way from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida early Tuesday morning. According to an X post from the Polaris Program , the Polaris Dawn launched around 5:30 a.m.

According to the Polaris Program’s website , the Polaris Dawn crew will spend a total of five days in orbit, where they will attempt the first-ever commercial spacewalk, test in-space communication, research health impacts of long-duration spaceflights and attempt to reach the highest Earth orbit ever.
