Frankie Beverly left a lasting impression on Virginians who enjoyed his music

R&B icon Frankie Beverly has passed away

Fox 5 reports that Frankie Beverly, the lead singer of the R&B group Maze, passed away at 77 on September 10. His family announced this on his Instagram page and asked for privacy.

Many Virginians enjoyed Frankie Beverly and Maze concerts in Roanoke, Richmond, and Hampton during the 1970s and 1980s. Groups from Southwest Virginia would travel together to see the band in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Baby Boomer children are discussing on Facebook how they grew up listening to their parents play music from Frankie Beverly and Maze, which shows how far-reaching their impact was. The group was in Hampton for the I want to Thank You Tour in January 2024.
