HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A vehicle fire caused delays on I-64 at the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) Tuesday morning.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), all east lanes remain closed at the HRBT and the traffic backup at one point was more than four miles.
The Newport News Fire Department says the eastbound lanes of the HRBT will be closed for an “unknown time.”
Virginia State Police confirmed there was no crash associated with this vehicle fire.

A WAVY 10 viewer sent video of the vehicle fire, showing more of the black smoke.
No injuries have been reported.
