Meet the candidates: Election events happening Oct. 21-26 in Hampton Roads

Hampton Roads community groups are hosting debates and forums with candidates ahead of the Nov. 5 elections. Here’s a list of events scheduled for Oct. 20-26.

Hampton

Bridge Builders hosts a Hampton School Board candidates forum at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The event is at the Third Baptist Church, located at 1214 Victoria Blvd. in Hampton.

Newport News

The Newport News NAACP hosts a City Council and School Board forum on Thursday. The event takes place from 6-8:15 p.m. at the Zion Baptist Church, located at 633 20th Street in Newport News. Candidates running for City Council and School Board are invited.

Virginia Beach

The Thalia Civic League, Birchwood Civic League, and Kings Forest Civic League host a City Council District 8 forum from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday. The event will be held at New Life Church- Town Center Campus, located at 420 Thalia Road in Virginia Beach.

The Central Business District Association is hosting a Speakeasy Candidates Night from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Ruth’s Chris Restaurant located at 205 Central Park Ave. at Virginia Beach Town Center. All candidates running for the 2nd Congressional District, City Council, school board and sheriff have been invited. Tickets to the event are $35 for CBDA members and $45 for non-members.
