VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Beach School Board is asking whether Bayside sixth graders should be moved to Bayside Middle School, a project two years in the making.
The proposal would move sixth grade into the middle school building at the start of the next school year. Currently, just seventh and eighth graders attend the middle school.
Superintendent Dr. Donald Robertson said if the merger moves forward, it would be a smooth transition.
“We already have the remnants of a plan together,” he said, “which will involve a number of different departments to move the students, the actual building furniture and things like that will get moved over the summer. If you’re a student in Bayside 6, you won’t notice anything because you were going to go to the school anyway next year.”
Just two people at the meeting shared their thoughts.
The Virginia Beach School Board is scheduled to vote on this next week.
