Progress is often seen as new construction, but the other side of development comes from the demolition of older structures, especially when land is a high commodity in the region.
That’s where family-owned East Coast Demolition steps in.
Ricky Webb, the company’s chief operating officer, said business has been very busy lately between private and government sector projects.
“There’s a lot of new development happening in the area,” said Webb, the third generation involved in the Moyock, North Carolina-based business. “We feel like the Hampton Roads area is on the right track and growing tremendously.”
The company’s work in Hampton Roads includes the yearlong demolition of Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center hospital complex in Norfolk to make way for a youth center, removing portions of Pembroke Mall in Virginia Beach for its ongoing transformation to Pembroke Square and demolishing multiple warehouses at Lamberts Point for the Fairwinds Landing development in Norfolk .
Well-versed in the art of building demolition, the company helps developers assess a property and calculate the best way to tear it down, Webb said.
