NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – As we enter the weekend before Christmas, the TSA is predicting a very busy travel day for those wishing to fly out for the holidays.
The American Automobile Association (AAA) is predicting over 185,000 Virginians to hop on a plane over the year-end holiday travel period.
AAA also said they expect over 119 million people across the country to travel 50 miles or more between Dec. 21, and Jan. 1. Nearly 90% of those travelers, around 107 million, will be driving.

10 On Your Side’s Raven Payne was at Norfolk International Airport (ORF) Friday morning, where long lines could be seen forming for much of the morning.
One passenger at ORF said she was surprised by how crowded it was.
“I’ve never seen it so long,” Jenny Jacovides said. “We tried to check in early, pack early, get up early enough and arrive early. Might not have been early enough.”
The long lines even caused another traveler to miss her flight entirely.
