NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Despite a temporary stoppage of all American Airlines flights Tuesday morning, travelers at Norfolk International Airport (ORF) experienced a relatively smooth Christmas Eve travel day.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) posted early Tuesday morning about the ground stoppage after American Airlines reported technical issues impacting the entire system. Just before 8 a.m. though, the stoppage was cancelled .

The company has yet to issue a press release regarding the technical issues.
The stoppage did not detour any travelers, however, with people still trickling into the airport to get to their holiday destinations on time. The American Automobile Association (AAA) is expecting 119.3 million people to travel at least 50 miles or more this holiday season.
