Loved ones say Landyn Davis is back after being shot in head in VB home

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — On Christmas Eve, Landyn Davis, one finger at a time, played Jingle Bells by reading notes.

Ten months ago, he was playing a video game on his father’s computer when an unintended 45-caliber bullet struck him in the head. He was hospitalized for 90 days.

“Well, at first he he couldn’t do anything,” said Landyn’s mother, Emily Rigsby. “He couldn’t even hold his own head up. He didn’t move his arms. He didn’t move his legs. I mean, they’d ask him to squeeze my hand. He couldn’t even squeeze anybody’s hand. He couldn’t talk. I mean, nothing.”

Members of the CHKD violence intervention team remember those dark days. On Christmas Eve, they delivered one of Landyn’s favorite video games.

Loved ones say Landyn is back. He’s grown six-and-a-half inches since what his mother calls the accident.

“He still has his personality,” Rigsby said. “I mean, he’s smart. Hasn’t lost any of his memory.”

A few months ago, Landyn communicated with a murmur. Today he speaks 9-year-old American boy.
