CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Many people in Chesapeake were without power early Friday morning.
According to Dominion Energy, as of 8 a.m., over 1,200 people in Chesapeake were without power. The number dropped to just below 400 people without power by 10:30 a.m.
Chesapeake Roads posted to X just before 8 a.m. saying that eastbound Great Bridge Boulevard is closed between Fernwood Farms Road and Riverwalk Parkway due to a vehicle accident — the same area of the power outage. It is currently unclear if the two incidents are related, but 10 On Your Side has reached out for more information.
Officials with Dominion said the estimated time of restoration is between noon and 3 p.m. The cause of the outage remains under investigation.
