CHIP of South Hampton Roads holds groundbreaking ceremony for new center

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – The Children’s Health Investment Program (CHIP) of South Hampton Roads recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for their new Center for Children & Families.

The ceremony was held on Dec. 19 on Jefferson Street in Chesapeake, and mayors from five Hampton Roads cities, including Chesapeake Mayor Rick West, Norfolk Mayor Kenneth Alexander, Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer, Suffolk Mayor Michael Duman and Portsmouth Mayor Shannon Glover, were in attendance with shovels in hand to mark the occasion.

The new center will include offices, meeting rooms, a teaching kitchen and communal space. According to CHIP of South Hampton Roads, they serve over 1200 families throughout the region.
