Virginia Beach house fire displaces two adults, two children, and three dogs

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Two adults, two children and three dogs were displaced from their home after a fire in Virginia Beach Saturday evening.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 2700 block of Bernadotte Street at around 7:15 p.m. after reports of a structure fire.

Upon arrivals, crews said they saw heavy smoke and flames from the second-floor room over the attached garage.

Crews had water on the fire at 7:23 and it was officially marked out by 7:55 p.m.

One man was treated for smoke inhalation.

The Red Cross was contacted to provide temporary housing assistance to the residents.

The origin of the fire was the attached garage, but the cause remains under investigation.
