8-year-old girl bitten by dog on Norchester Avenue, child hospitalized

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Norfolk Police Department’s Animal Protection Unit is investigating after an 8-year-old girl was bitten by a dog Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., officers were called to the 1000 block of Norchester Avenue for the report of an animal bite.

When officers arrived, they found an 8-year-old girl had been bitten on the arm by a dog.

The child was taken to CHKD with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The dog is currently in the custody of APU officers.

Any possible charges are pending the outcome of their investigation.
