Navy Keeps Base Open During Record Snowfall

FEBRUARY 25, 2025 – As winter weather blanketed the region, mission-essential personnel at Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana worked around the clock to ensure the installation remained safe and operational. From clearing roads to securing aircraft and facilities, their efforts were critical to maintaining readiness.

Naval Air Station Oceana public works and air operations personnel clear the installation’s airfield after a record-breaking winter snow storm.

“Our top priorities are ensuring the base remains mission-ready and keeping our personnel safe,” said NAS Oceana’s Commanding Officer Capt.
