VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Bond was denied on Thursday for the man who was arrested for bringing a gun to a Virginia Beach preschool and church.
Man arrested for possession of firearm on VB church preschool property
The mother of 26-year-old Logan Thorp testified on his behalf in a Norfolk court Thursday morning, but it was not enough to get him out of jail, according to the judge, who said Thorp was an “unreasonable threat to the community.”
On Jan. 8, just before 9 a.m., Thorp came to Bayside Presbyterian Church, when preschool was in session. The prosecutor said Thorp had a .38 caliber revolver in his pocket when he knocked on the door and told church employees he wanted to go in and pray.

About an hour later, Thorp was found on top of his truck in the church’s parking lot. Shortly afterwards, officers arrived to the scene. Thorp then told officers he was armed, leading to his arrest. Prosecutors said that a church employee told police that Thorp stated he wanted to be a pastor.
Officers stated that within the truck, there were six additional weapons, including two rifles, two shotguns and two more handguns — several of which were loaded. 1,000 rounds of ammunition was also found inside of the truck, police said…
