The GoFundMe campaigns started to aid the grieving families of the two Virginia Beach Police officers who were killed in the line of duty late on Friday, Feb. 21 have already collected more than $100,000 apiece, on the way to a stated goal of $130,000.
Cameron Girvin, 25, and Christopher Reese, 30, who had both served on the force for just a few years, were killed following an attempted traffic stop. The suspect, John McCoy III, was found shortly after with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
As of Sunday, March 2, the GoFundMe total had reached $109,049 for the family of Officer Gervin, with the collections to date for the family of Officer Reese remarkably similar at $110,136…
