NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A total of eight men have been sentenced to prison for a series of armed robberies in the Hampton Roads region that targeted U.S. Postal Service (USPS) mail carriers, the Department of Justice announced.
The mail carriers would be robbed at gunpoint of their “arrow keys” or master keys, which can be used to access checks and personal information from stolen mail for the suspects’ gains.
Prosecutors said that from at least April through July 2023, 21-year-old Ricky Damion Christopher Jones Junior, aka David William Smith led at least seven other co-conspirators in a conspiracy to rob and steal these arrow keys…
