Mother and daughter become first-time homeowners, thanks to Habitat for Humanity

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads dedicated a new home in Chesapeake to a mother and daughter on Thursday.

Deandrea (Dee), 36, and her daughter Daija Staton, 19, were selected from almost 400 other applicants to become Habitat homeowners of a three-bedroom and two-bath house in the South Norfolk section of the city.

Dee is currently the manager of the Kroger she’s worked at for 10 years, and her daughter studies nursing at Norfolk State University…
