Only On 10: Norfolk grandmother in court for granddaughter’s death

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Norfolk grandmother charged in the death of her 3-month old granddaughter was in court Monday as her case moves forward.

Norfolk grandmother charged with second-degree murder in infant death denied bond

Norfolk Juvenile and Domestic Relations Judge Lyn Simmons certified the case against Alvetta Haskins to a grand jury to set a court date.

Haskins has been in custody since her arrest Jan. 1, charged with second-degree murder after being accused of killing her granddaughter, Skylar Mccoy, on or about April 22, 2024.

In July, the medical examiner determined the baby died of an overdose from anti-psychotic medication prescribed to treat mood disorders…
