Flags to be flown at half-staff Wednesday for Virginia Tech shooting anniversary

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Governor Glenn Youngkin has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on Wednesday to mark 18 years since the mass shooting at Virginia Tech.

‘We Remember’: Virginia Tech hosts 2024 Day of Remembrance 17 years after mass shooting

On April 16, 2007, 27 students and five staff members were killed in what was one of the deadliest school shootings in United States history.

To mark the 18th anniversary, Governor Youngkin ordered all United States and Virginia flags to be flown at half-staff on all state and local buildings starting at sunrise on Wednesday, April 16.

During the anniversary, Virginia Tech will also be holding several remembrance events. For a full list of events, click here
