CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A woman who was arrested after a police chase that started in Elizabeth City and ended in Virginia Beach was denied bond following an arraignment hearing Wednesday in Chesapeake General District Court.

Heather Barrington, 53, of Chesapeake is facing a charge of assault on an officer in Chesapeake. Another felony charge of eluding/disregarding police was set aside.
According to court documents, on April 12, Chesapeake Police were called to assist the Camden County Sheriff’s Office with a pursuit of a 2011 Lexus SUV that Barrington was driving. That pursuit started in Elizabeth City after a deputy was sideswiped, and it continued on Hwy. 17 north into Chesapeake, where city police took over the chase, twice deploying spike strips in an effort to end the pursuit.
