VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Four baby otters are now in safe hands at Evelyn’s Wildlife Refuge after being rescued and brought in for rehabilitation—two of them just last week from Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.
According to volunteer Cindy Lakin, the two newest arrivals were found huddled outside a building on the Navy base. With no sign of their mother returning, base personnel contacted the refuge for help.
“They were dehydrated and hungry when we got them,” said Evelyn’s Wildlife Refuge officials, who are currently caring for all four otters. “But their rehabilitation is going really well.”…
