Judge denies motion to reconsider sentence in hit-and-run that killed 8-year-old

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A judge has denied a motion to reconsider a 5-year sentence in a hit-and-run that killed an 8-year-old boy.

Chesapeake man Richard Humbert was sentenced for a hit-and-run that killed Forrest Hooper, who was 8 years old at the time Humbert’s white sedan hit Hooper on South Battlefield Boulevard.

Hooper’s family previously said they believe the sentencing is adequate. The sentence is shorter than the eight years prosecutors requested, but they said they feel that justice was served…
