Skydivers ‘Jump for a Purpose’: to honor Gold Star Families

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — If you’re at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on Saturday, between 24th and 27th Streets, check the skies: you might catch skydivers making their way to Earth to land on the sand. But these aren’t ordinary skydivers: they’re “Jumping for a Purpose,” for the 13th year in a row.

Rob Allen, with Skydive Suffolk, told 13News Now that the all-day event on Saturday is to honor fallen service members.

“We’re going to be jumping Gold Star Families first thing in the morning to honor their heroes,” Allen said. “Tandem jumpers and fun jumpers are going to be jumping in honor of a fallen service member as well.”…
