20 local businesses awarded Facade Improvement Grants in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The City of Virginia Beach recently announced that 20 local businesses were awarded matching grants of up to $10,000 for improvements.

According to the city, the Virginia Beach Development Authority (VBDA) awarded the Facade Improvement Grants in order to help improve the exterior of multiple local, small businesses. Some of the improvements include paint, fencing, parking upgrades, signage and more.

“We are thrilled to be able to award 20 grants this year, the fifth year of this program,” Lisa Murphy, VBDA chair said. “The response to the program has been overwhelming, and we have seen the positive impact that it has had on our commercial corridors. We plan to offer this program again next year to once again incentivize small businesses and property owners to enhance the appearance of their buildings in a manner that contributes to the overall revitalization of our city.”…
