Virginia Beach’s ‘Parks After Dark’ is back, hoping to curb youth summer violence

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — School’s almost out for kids across Hampton Roads. In Virginia Beach, a popular program aimed at keeping kids out of trouble during the summer months is back.

Thursday night, Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation kicked off its annual Parks After Dark program, continuing a mission to try to curb youth violence.

Now on its third year, Parks After Dark is a free program that encourages positive collaboration. It’s about giving children and teens of all ages and backgrounds a fun and safe place to go this summer…
