Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia Tornado Watch: Over 10 Million at Risk Until 10 PM Sunday in Mid-Atlantic Region

Washington, D.C. – More than 10 million people across the Mid-Atlantic are under a tornado watch until 10 p.m. Sunday as powerful thunderstorms sweep through Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, a couple of tornadoes are possible this evening, along with wind gusts up to 65 mph and isolated hail as large as ping-pong balls. The tornado watch affects high-density areas including Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Richmond, and Virginia Beach.

Cities such as Fredericksburg, Staunton, Hagerstown, and Waldorf are also in the impact zone. Emergency managers advise residents to remain alert and review shelter locations. Downed trees and isolated power outages are likely if storms intensify, particularly along the I-95 corridor…
